This message is sent on behalf of Penny Rue, Vice President for Campus Life:

Dear Wake Forest community,

Public health officials have confirmed that three individuals on campus have tested positive for COVID-19. Each individual is recovering well and is respecting the required isolation guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In keeping with our long-held privacy practices, Wake Forest will not be releasing further information about the identity of the individuals involved, including whether or not they are students.

Contact tracing steps have been undertaken and exposed individuals have been notified and are following the appropriate CDC guidelines for quarantine.

Please remember that unless you have received an individual email, text message or phone call requesting a screening from Student Health Service or your local health department, you are not known to be at risk related to this information.

Students, faculty and staff presenting symptoms must immediately self-isolate. Students remaining on campus or in the local Winston-Salem area who develop symptoms can call Student Health Service (336-758-5218) or their primary care provider for medical advice. Students who reside outside of the Winston-Salem area should contact their primary care provider or local public health department for guidance. Faculty and staff who exhibit symptoms should contact their primary care provider, Faculty and Staff Clinic or local public health department for guidance.

Please continue to practice social distancing per the guidelines of the CDC. Wake Forest is taking action to reduce community transmission of the virus, and detailed information about our precautions and steps to mitigate the spread of the virus can be found at campushealth.wfu.edu.

Please know that we are working directly with local health agencies and infectious disease experts and consulting state and federal resources to stay current on virus activity in our area and on the latest guidelines for maintaining a healthy campus.

Thank you for your continued vigilance and patience as we manage these challenging times.

Sincerely,

Penny Rue
Vice President for Campus Life
