You Said It
Last week you let us know that in-person events are something you really miss. We hear you, and we do too. Governor Cooper announced yesterday that he hopes to lift many of the current gathering restrictions by June 1. Until then, visit The Link to find in-person events on campus — and we hope you’ll take a minute to let us know how you’re feeling in this week’s emotional wellbeing survey.
Testing… Testing…
This week, the University discontinued testing the entire undergraduate student population, shifting to a strategy of random sampling for about 1,500 students per week. If you get the call, we need you to participate so we can continue to move forward. And if you squint hard, you can begin to see the light at the end of this awful COVID tunnel.
Our Library is Growing
Not really, but on May 7, it’s definitely going to be able to hold more people. That week, ZSR Library, Benson Center and the study space in the Sutton Center will adopt the new CDC guidance that reduces social distancing requirements from 6 feet to 3 feet in classroom settings. Everywhere else, keep to 6 feet of social distance. And yes, masks are still required, and not just because you make them look soooo good.
Free Band-aids!
You saw this week that the University is intending to require proof of vaccination for all students before the Fall 2021 semester. For School of Business grad students, it’s required before the start of July classes. A vaccinated campus is a safe campus, and a big step forward to returning to life as we knew it.
The Bouncer is Leaving the Door
On May 1, University gate access will return to normal. All gates will be open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and card access is not required during those hours. That also means the family visit form is no longer required for visits during those hours.
And always remember… if you’re going to streak the quad, please wear your mask.
