Good Afternoon All,

As an FYI, the Office of Student Engagement wanted to make sure that you were all aware that chartered student organization events will have to remain virtual until Monday, September 7th.

This is for several reasons. As part of student organization training requirements, at least four executive board members of each organization must complete Student Organization COVID-19 Training prior to beginning event planning. Training will be available on Saturday, August 22nd, and event planning will begin on Wednesday, August 26th.

Additionally, as part of the event planning process, all in-person events must be reviewed by the Special Event Operations review Subcommittee and the Social Distance Space Allocation Committee that are part of newly established COVID-19 Protocols.

We have attached the letter this is going out to our student organizations. We apologize for this delay, as we need to prioritize ensuring that student organization events are in compliance with health and safety protocols. Departments and Units that conduct student-facing programs may continue to submit in-person events using the University Event process.

We will be meeting with student organization leaders and advisors in a Zoom session on Tuesday, August 25th at 5:30 pm to discuss the need for these processes, and to answer questions and provide clarity. If you have questions, do not hesitate to reach out.

Best,

Tim Wilkinson
Associate Dean for Student Engagement
