Bottom Line Up Front: Effective immediately, food and drink may be served and consumed indoors during campus events.

Dear Wake Forest community,

On December 29, we communicated updates to the University’s COVID-19 protocols to address the rising transmission rate of the Omicron variant. Fortunately, the Omicron wave appears to have peaked and the number of positive cases is rapidly declining.

As promised, we have reviewed our protocols and with the advice of public health experts we can again allow food and drink to be served and consumed indoors during campus events without greatly increasing the risk to our community. This change is effective immediately. Other campus and event protocols remain in place, including mandatory face masks indoors and the requirement for outside guests to provide proof of up-to-date vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test prior to entry at events.

We are able to adjust these protocols thanks to the high rate of compliance among faculty, staff and students with up-to-date vaccinations and adherence to the city-wide indoor mask mandate, which remains in effect.

Again, we will continue to review these protocols and make updates consistent with local and state requirements and advice from public health experts. We thank you for your partnership as we seek to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on campus operations.

Sincerely,
