Dear student,

Thank you for sharing with Wake Forest that you intend to receive an FDA-authorized vaccine upon arrival in the United States.

This message is to inform you that you need to provide documentation of at least one vaccination dose by Sept. 10. If you do not provide documentation, you will be withdrawn from fall courses and your assigned housing (if applicable) on Sept. 13.

If you receive one dose of a two-dose vaccine (Moderna / Pfizer), you will need to complete the series and provide documentation of the second dose by Oct. 1. If you do not provide documentation, you will be withdrawn from fall courses and your assigned housing (if applicable) on Oct. 4.

If you are withdrawn, you will be subject to the University’s refund policy for withdrawal, which means you will not be able to receive financial aid, and you will lose any federal work-study assignments. If you are an international student please note that withdrawal of your courses will negatively impact your visa status.

Note: If a student has received a vaccine authorized by the World Health Organization, the student will be given a grace period of 28 days after their last dose before they are expected to receive an FDA-authorized vaccine (which is the recommended timing from the CDC). Please email traceshs@wfu.edu if you are eligible for this grace period.

Vaccination opportunities

The Forsyth County Public Health Department will host vaccination clinics offering the Pfizer vaccine on Aug. 24 and 27 in the Sutton Center. Vaccination opportunities also are available off-campus with Forsyth County Public Health Department, Wake Forest Baptist Health, Novant Health, Walgreens, CVS and other sources.

Submitting your documentation

Please submit your vaccination documentation through the Student Health Portal as soon as possible. Submitting early will allow Student Health time to review it before the deadlines.

Information on how to check the status of your documentation is available here. If your vaccine documentation is missing any information that the Student Health Service must have, you will be sent a secure message through the Student Health Portal. Please log into the Student Health Portal to view secure messaging and check the status of your documentation.

Follow University protocols

Until you are fully vaccinated with an FDA-authorized vaccine, you must follow University protocols:

  • You are required to wear face coverings at all times when indoors except in your residence hall room. While everyone on campus will open the semester with this requirement, you must continue to follow this protocol even if campus requirements change.
  • If you have a job on campus, this masking requirement also applies in the workplace. Student employees who do not comply in the workplace will be subject to corrective action.
  • You must submit to regular, weekly asymptomatic testing starting the first week of classes. The first dates will be August 24 and 25, and you will receive an email from wfuwellness@wakehealth.edu to schedule. Testing will be available on Tuesday and Wednesday of each week during the semester.
  • You will be required to quarantine per University policy if exposed to a COVID-positive person. (Note: All students who test positive for COVID-19 will be required to isolate regardless of vaccination status.)

Students who fail to comply with these items will be referred to the Dean of Students of their respective School.

If you have questions, please check the Vaccine FAQs on Our Way Forward or submit them through the Our Way Forward website.

If you believe you received this email in error, please reply to this email with your reasoning.

Thank you in advance for taking the steps needed to prioritize health and safety and to comply with University policy.
