Bottom Line Up Front:
- All students will be required to schedule a move-out appointment for May 1-16.
- Students will need to pack, clean, and box their items prior to their move-out appointment time, as the actual move-out appointment is only 2 hours.
- Students will be limited to TWO helpers to assist with their move-out.
Hello –
We hope that you’re enjoying spring and the blooming campus life under the University’s Yellow Operating Status.
We are now less than 50 days away from closing our residential communities on May 16. The goal of this message is to provide you with an overview of our closing process so that you may begin your planning.
Due to public health measures and our commitment to protecting our community, this year’s closing process will need to be more controlled than students have experienced in the past.
All students will be required to schedule a move-out appointment so we can manage building occupancy and ensure social distancing. We plan to make appointments available in early April.
- Appointments will be available May 1 until May 16. Appointments are limited to two hours due to the need to keep the total number of people in our communities low.
- May 1-15 timeslots will be available at 9a-11a, 11a-1p, 1p-3p, 3p-5p, and 5p-7p.
- May 16 timeslots will be available at 9a-11a and 11a-1p.
- May 17 timeslots will be available at 9a-11a and 11a-1p for seniors (or others officially involved in Commencement) ONLY
- Students will need to pack, clean, and box their items prior to their move-out appointment time. Given the need for physical distancing, the move-out appointment must be used to take your belongings from your room to your car/storage, not as a time to begin packing.
Students will be limited to TWO helpers to assist with their move-out.
Individuals may NOT come to campus if they meet any of the following criteria:
- Are currently experiencing or have experienced within the last 14 days symptoms of possible COVID 19 or are awaiting the results of a COVID test due to symptoms/illness
- Been exposed through direct contact to a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case within the last 14 days. For guidance on exposure and response, please review this CDC guidance.
- For individuals who are fully vaccinated (2 weeks post shot) please follow CDC Guidance related to exposure and quarantine.
- Had any international travel or cruise ship travel (CDC travel guidance) within the last 14 days.
Already left campus? You are still responsible for ensuring your items are moved out (including any items in shared living spaces).
- Previously Fully Moved-Out? Contact Kristy Eanes at eaneska@wfu.edu so that we can ensure you are checked out in our systems. Please note: if you did not return your keys prior to leaving campus, you will be charged for a lock change.
- Need To Move Out? Students who are away from campus and not planning to return will need to work with Storage Scholars (info@storagescholars.com) to have their belongings packed and shipped/stored.
As we move towards the end of the semester, we encourage students to begin packing and planning for their move-out. Details on how to prepare can be found at go.wfu.edu/moveout.
We thank you for your continued adherence to our public health measures and wish you well as you wrap up your academic semester. Please stay tuned for future communications about our closing process and don’t hesitate to reach out to your Community Director or our office (housing@wfu.edu) with questions.
