Your Corona Chronicle — Thursday, September 3
Keeping common sense highly contagious

Currently, we have had 30 known, confirmed positive tests since August 17,
with 11 in the last week. Let’s go Deacons!

Stay mellow, keep us in the yellow

You’ve seen the flags and the dashboard, so you know when it comes to our COVID status we’re currently in the yellow. Staying there is everything. To maintain yellow and keep us on campus, you’re about to see things around here brighten up. There’s a lot of yellow about to come your way, including a few surprises in case you’re tired of yard signs. But don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of those too. Stay responsible, stay mellow.

Student Town Hall — 9/3 (today!) at 7 p.m.

Led by students, for students, this is a chance to discuss as a community the realities of our times and expectations for this fall. Student leaders will share perspectives regarding a variety of subjects including rules and guidelines, things to do on campus, shared responsibility and, of course, a little Q&A. It won’t be the same without you. Join using this link.

What exactly is Phase 2.5?

NC Governor Roy Cooper issued an executive order moving the state’s COVID-19 response from Phase 2 to Phase 2.5. What does it mean for us? We’re staying mellow. We will gradually open our wellbeing center for lower-risk activities, but our on- and off-campus gathering limitations will remain at 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors for the time being. Learn more here.

It’s the right thing to do

Help Student Health Service identify trends and potential issues before an outbreak occurs. Use the SneezSafe symptom monitoring tool daily (and seek immediate medical attention if you are not feeling well or worry you may have been exposed to someone with COVID-19). Before you run out and get a test, ask an expert if you need one (might not be the right thing to do). Reach out to Student Health Services at hiif@wfu.edu.

We’re in the yellow — and still on campus when other schools are not — because our community has taken this seriously. Thank you, and please keep it up.

What are you doing this weekend?

Find out what’s going on via Corq or Wake the Forest. Lots of mellow but super fun things happening!

Something normal

Even with masks and social distancing the first day of classes is still the first day of classes. Take a look.

And always remember… only you can prevent outbreaks. Wash up, mask up and practice safe six.
