The following message was sent to undergraduate students who will be returning to school from countries outside the US

Good Afternoon –

I hope you are well! This message is to further explain options being provided for students returning from outside the United States.

First, as an undergraduate student, you are expected to fulfill all of the requirements outlined by Dr. Rue in her message this morning; including:

  1. Complete pre-arrival testing process through the Azova Health portal
  2. Self-quarantine and monitor for symptoms for 14 days prior to accessing campus
  3. Register on the SneezSafe website to be prepared to begin the daily symptom screening upon arrival to campus

COVID-19 Testing Requirements

All undergraduate students are expected to complete a COVID-19 test. A link to the testing portal will be sent to you shortly. Request that that testing company, Azova Health, send the testing kit to your quarantine location (if not using the University-sponsored option) and follow the instructions for submitting your test sample. For those students choosing University-sponsored quarantine, further details on your testing will be provided soon.

Quarantine and Isolation Requirements Prior to Accessing Campus

We appreciate your patience as we finalized the details of the University-sponsored quarantine option for our students returning from outside the United States.

For students living off-campus, you are encouraged to plan your arrival to Winston-Salem such that you can complete the required 14-day quarantine prior to the academic semester beginning on August 26.

For students living on-campus, you will be required to complete a 14-day quarantine prior to moving into your fall semester housing. You should plan to arrive in Winston-Salem between August 7 and 10, to ensure you can complete your quarantine and transition to your fall housing prior to the start of classes.

You are welcome to quarantine independent of the University, or you may choose to utilize an option provided by the University. The cost for this University-sponsored option will be $767.50 ($500 for housing and $267.50 for meals) for the 14-day hotel stay and a block of 25 meals. These charges will be billed to a student’s University account.

If you plan to utilize University-sponsored quarantine, please confirm that with us by August 1. Once you finalize your travel plans please share your arrival information with us at housing@wfu.edu.

While in quarantine, students are expected to remain in their residence and avoid exposure to anyone who is infected or who may have been exposed to someone infected with COVID-19.

You should only leave your home or quarantine space for medical care or in case of a need to evacuate your housing for an emergency (fire alarm or to seek emergency shelter for severe weather).

If for any reason you must come in contact with someone, maintain a distance of six feet from one another, and wear a cloth mask.

Avoid close contact with friends and family (even those you share a home with). If you share a home with others, stay in your room as much as possible and use a separate bathroom, if available.

Once a student completes their quarantine period, they will work with the Office of Residence Life and Housing to pick-up any stored items and check in to their fall housing.

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we’ve pulled these details together. If you have questions please contact us at housing@wfu.edu or 336-758-5185. Please note that we are handling a high volume of calls and messages and will get back to you as quickly as possible.

Best –
