Housing for LGBTQ+ students during the COVID-19 situation
This message was sent on March 12.
Dear Students,
As you read in Dr. Hatch’s message from yesterday, spring break has been extended by a week, and Wake Forest is transitioning to online class delivery until further notice.
We anticipate that many of you may have questions about housing, access to campus services, and the availability of support. We will have more updates next week about how the LGBTQ+ Center will continue to provide care and support for our students during this time.
In the meantime, we are reaching out specifically today about housing needs for LGBTQ+ students. We know that for some of you, returning home is not a safe or feasible option. The Office of Residence Life and Housing is aware that some of our students will need to stay here, and is prepared to work with you to ensure that you are safely housed for the remainder of the semester. Please fill out the housing request at go.wfu.edu/housingportal by Friday, March 13th to inform Residence Life and Housing of your plans, and of any needs for remaining in campus housing. If you would like to have staff from the LGBTQ Center provide additional context to Residence Life and Housing on your behalf, please reach out to me at mazarise@wfu.edu by noon on Friday, 3/13.
We will continue to share information regarding the LGBTQ+ Center and our programs as it becomes available. Please contact me with further questions or thoughts, and know that the staff of the LGBTQ+ Center remains committed to supporting you during this time.
All best,
Angela Mazaris, Ph.D.
